Chemistry is the science that deals with the composition, characterization, and transformation of substances. The goal of this course is to build a solid understanding of essential facts of chemistry and with principles of chemistry and prepare you for college-level chemistry courses.
The laboratory work for this course provides you the opportunity to learn and apply skills learned in lecture. The labs are designed to foster important skills such as detailed observation, experimental design, data interpretation, and statistical analysis.
The primary emphases in this course is developing an understanding of the basic concepts rather than simply memorizing vocabulary. Understanding the scientific and technical vocabulary is important, but not the end goal; the vocabulary is just one necessary tool to build your conceptual foundation.
