June 2016

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your interest in Sixth Street Community Center CSA. Community Supported Agriculture is a movement that brings together community residents and local farmers in mutually beneficial partnerships. Members receive fresh organic produce by purchasing seasonal vegetable and fruit shares from their farmer thereby insuring a stable income for the farm’s continued operation.

This fall you can join us for a special 11 week season beginning September 13th and running to November 22nd. Hepworth Farm, located in New York's Hudson Valley, will be providing our members with fruit and vegetable shares. Fruits include plums, peaches, nectarines, pears, apples and grapes. For a list of vegetables see the chart below. Organic eggs, yogurt, raw milk and cheese, butter, honey, maple syrup and olive oil are also available.

All CSA members are asked to participate in some way- small or large- in one of our many committees. If your time is very limited, for example, you can share one or two of your favorite recipes for publication in the CSA newsletter. If you have more time you may be interested in helping to organize a composting workshop for members. In either case you and your family are most welcome to join us during the season for weekend farm trips, potlucks, film screenings, and other events.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Howard Brandstein Executive Director
