THE BUZZ.....

November 17, 2019

Dear Earth School Families,

Studio in A School starts tomorrow! Each class is scheduled for Studio in A School once a week (Monday through Wednesday), and art instructors and classroom teachers will work together with students during art class. Some classes will be meeting in the Art Room (B69) while others will be doing art in their classrooms. We are so excited to be starting this program, and can’t wait to see how students explore, learn about, and create with different media over the course of the program.

Check the classroom newsletters for more updates on what your child is doing in art, as well as updates on the learning that is happening in open work time, reading/writing, math, community building, core studies, trips, and so much more! Additionally, Emmy and Tim have prepared newsletters with November updates (attached to this Buzz) so families can keep up with what classes are doing in Science and Cooking.

Food Drive! Please donate in the ES lobby! Highly needed items include canned goods like tuna, beans and vegetables; pasta, rice and other grains; cereal; and Tetra-packed milk. Thanksgiving-themed foods also welcome, however, please consider that hunger is a larger problem than just the holiday, so all types of food are appreciated. Donations will first be utilized within our school community and then donated to the food bank on Ave B. Any questions, see Maya in Rm 152.

Parent Corps resumes tomorrow (8:30-10:00, Rm 106), hosted by our guidance counselor, Shirley.  Make connections with other parents and caregivers, discuss parenting challenges and strategies, and enjoy some light breakfast goodies. All are welcome!

The Diversity and Difference Study Group is meeting this Friday, 8:45 - 10:00 in the Art Room (B69).  We’ll be listening to and sharing our thoughts and reactions to The Myth That Busing Failed, an episode of the New York Times’ The Daily podcast that questions the conventional historical perspectives on school desegregation. Please join us!

We also have a Half Day this Friday, Nov. 22. Dismissal is at 11:55.

Have a wonderful week!

Claudia
