Dear Earth School Families,

It was wonderful to get to see many of you at the Fall Fair!  So many people pitched in to help with the Fair (not just on Saturday but in the days and weeks leading up to it), and everyone I got a chance to speak to at the Fair commented on what a wonderful community event it was!  If your schedule didn’t allow for you to help out with the Fair this year, there’ll be more opportunities to help out coming up soon!  (The Monster Bake Sale on Oct. 28, Picture Day on Oct. 29, and the post-Fall Fair storage room re-organization, to name just a few!)

Our Middle School Information Meeting is tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 21., from 8:45-9:45 in the Library.  This is a general informational meeting hosted by Shirley and me.

Family Conferences are this week!  Our Evening Conference day is Thurs., Oct. 24, and we have a half day on Fri., Oct. 25 for afternoon conferences, although your child’s teacher(s) might be able to accommodate conferences on other days. It’s not too late to schedule a time to meet, so please check with your child’s teacher(s) to find out more about the best way to sign up.

Diversity and Difference Study Group will have its first meeting Fri., Oct. 25, 8:45-10:00 AM (room TBD).  The group will explore the importance of diversity for the education of children and consider the challenges and rewards of being a parent in a diverse community. Previous topics have included racism, equity, and privilege. Please email claudia@theearthschool.org to RSVP, so we have a sense of how many people will be attending our first meeting.

A reminder to come check out Parent Corps, hosted by Shirley, our Guidance Counselor!  It’s a fun way to develop a support network with other families at school, and a great way to get ideas from each other about how to manage the challenges of parenting.  Kick-off meeting is Monday, Oct. 28, 8:30 - 10:00, in room 106, and is open to new and returning participants.

Have a wonderful week!
