Dear Earth School Families,

In striving for a more just awareness of U.S. history, some communities are re-thinking Columbus Day as a time to honor the many indigenous peoples who were lost or displaced by European conquest and colonialism. I am taking a few moments myself this Monday to remember the sad and brutal history that has benefitted some peoples at the great expense of others, a history that was NOT taught to me in elementary school.

Times are tough. What issues are affecting you? What can you do?

October 11, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

3Rs is a series of six evenings that will provide a forum to REFLECT, REPRESENT, and RESPECT concerns of EARTH SCHOOL parents in and out of school. Childcare and food are provided. Each session includes activities to build community, to consider important issues, to voice perspectives, and to be change-makers in our community. Hosted by the Representation Team.

Sponsored by Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, a project of the Manhattan Community Grant Program

The Fall Fair is this Saturday in Tompkins Square Park!! We hope that everyone will come to this day of fun for the whole family! Spread the word to friends and neighbors. Hang posters. Volunteer to set up or clean up. Help out a booth. Bring a dish for the food table. Stop by the sign-up board or the PA Room for details.

With love, Abbe
