Dear Families,

Thanks to all who participated in the first Fall Potluck Picnic! It was lovely to see the children playing and so many of us enjoying the beautiful day together!! The next big thing is the Annual Fall Fair, Saturday, October 14, 12 – 5 p.m. We encourage everyone to get involved in some way! Please invite friends, and neighbors to this fun family event. To volunteer, please sign up on the notice board just outside The Earth School office. This is one of our biggest fundraisers and is great fun for the whole community. Plus, it supports Earth School programs, such as Rod Rogers Dance, Third Street Music, and the overnight camping trip for 4th/5th graders coming up November 1 – 3rd!

Many have been wondering about the status of our Movement Program. Coach Vince has been absent because his certification is delayed and he cannot be hired without it. Though he is trying to expedite the process, we are not sure how long it will take. Substitute teachers have been working with Frankie for the last few weeks to “cover,” but it has not been the same without a professional coach. To continue providing a quality experience for our students, I have invited a trained physical education coach, Patrick Lindo, to lead our Movement Program. Coach Frankie will help him get started. Patrick comes highly recommended and is excited to be at our school. We warmly welcome him to our community. The SLT will be putting together a hiring committee to choose a permanent certified physical education teacher when we know more about Vince’s certification timeline.

All for now!

Love, Abbe
