Dear Families,

So far the weather is looking great for the Fall Potluck Picnic on Friday!! We hope this will be a fun day to mingle with other Earth School families and for new folks to get a taste of our warm, welcoming, and diverse community. (We’re not bad cooks, either!) Make friends, arrange future play dates, chat with staff, share delicious food. The kids can be active and we can all enjoy ourselves at the beautiful East River Park. I hope you can attend. See your classroom newsletters for specifics.

I’ve been hearing some complaints about our crowded halls at dismissal. Teachers are working to dismiss on time. Please keep the aisle clear by standing along the walls. Please walk to an open space (the lobby, outside) to socialize once you have picked up your child. Also, Scooter-folks: Please leave scooters neatly in the scooter room so they are tripped over by those using the adjoining adults-only Women’s Room.

In response to feedback about the school lunch choices last year, I have requested an “alternative menu” beginning this week. It is not that different, but some schools are finding it more appealing to students. Please let me know if your children prefer it. For details click here

I hope that many Pre-K and K families will join Guidance Counselor Shirley Suares for Parent Corps this year (flier attached). Please note that the first session will be October 23 (date change). Parent Corps is shown to support school success and cognitive development by reducing childhood stressors. Plus it’s fun and a great way to network with other parents!!

We are pleased to welcome two new Occupational Therapists to our team. Carmen Yau (carmenY@theearthschool.org) and Marissa Gordon (marissa@theearthschool.org) will be serving OT-eligible students effective immediately. They will be reaching out to their families with further information.

All for now!

Love, Abbe
