Social Media in Career Transition

The news is no longer about job opportunities being in short supply but what can the average person do about it.  We know certain practices used in The Great Depression can work today.  But skills, attitudes and technologies have changed.  The changes in attitudes and technology, it is argued, has become contributors to the problem.  Memphis Recruiters indicate it is not uncommon to receive hundreds to thousands of resumes with 95% to 99% of the submissions being unqualified or their resumes being "junk".  The job boards are broken.  So what can you do?

Michael Zurkammer, Founder of The CT Groups, will offer his insight into what people can do in his presentation Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in the Farris Auditorium on the Macon Cove Campus.  Key discussion areas will include:
  •  Why you many want to conduct a career transition versus getting another job
  •  How the career transition has changed over the past 30 years and the impact it has brought
  •  Why are the job boards, in general, and the job search process is badly broken
  •  Why employers are embarrassing Social Media to address their needs
  •  How job seekers can adjust their career transition strategies
  •  Will this change be a fad or is it a likely fundamental shift how job seekers and employers will interact
  •  What is required to seek a career using Social Media and what is being used
