Homework.

Homework is an opportunity for your child to develop independence and to take responsibility for their own learning. We will be giving out homework in a variety of subjects – expect the unexpected! Children have been given a homework folder to do their homework in. This folder should be kept neat and tidy and looked after as carefully as books and equipment at school.

Spellings.

We are following the National Curriculum guidance for Years 3 and 4, looking at different word groups and spelling patterns each week. We discover words belonging to the specific group and focus on spelling these words correctly in sentences. The children are put in a group with children of a similar spelling ability in order to match their needs.  We will also continue to develop knowledge of tricky words - with a particular focus on the National Curriculum Spelling Lists for Years 3 and 4.

Websites.

Below are links to excellent educational websites which we use in school and, if you wish, can be used at home. We may on occasion set children homework from these websites, if you have difficulty getting online please come and inform your child’s teacher and provision will be made.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks2/  – for games and activities in mathematics, literacy and science.

http://www.mymaths.co.uk/   –  for developing mathematics skills across all areas of the mathematics curriculum.
