Worthy Cottage, Porlock Weir
Worthy Cottage is a beautiful 'gatehouse' cottage, perfectly suited to couples looking for a romantic retreat in a wonderful secluded location. The cottage is located at the entrance to Worthy Manor, the grounds and gardens of which have been featured in Country Life magazine. 

Worthy Cottage is one half of a converted barn; downstairs is a bright and airy kitchen/dining/sitting room with a log-burner. Upstairs is the bathroom and good sized bedroom with king-sized bed and great views across the Manor gardens to the sea beyond.  The private garden (not enclosed) next to the cottage offers the perfect place to enjoy this unspoiled corner of Exmoor.

Worthy Cottages is an excellent choice if you are looking for a base for walking; the South West Coast Path runs right past offering dramatic cliff paths, farm tracks, fields and beautiful wooded combes with seasonal waterfalls and streams between Worthy Cottage and Lynmouth. 

Appliances and equipment
Worthy Cottage kitchen is fitted with washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave, electric oven and ceramic hob. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a variety of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. Iron and Ironing board and hair dryer are included.
A television with Sky TV (basic package) with BT Sports channel, DVD player and CD player is provided in the living room and wireless broadband is available throughout the property.
A travel cot and/or high chair is available; please request them when booking so we can make sure they are present for your arrival. There is no dishwasher in this cottage.

Electricity and heating
Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Worthy Cottage is fitted with wall-mounted heaters in the bedroom and living area, which can provide instant heat or programmed to suit, plus a wall-mounted heater and heated towel rail in the bathroom.  There is also a wood burner in the living area; kindling, matches and one basket of logs will be provided. Additional logs can be purchased from the hardware shop in Porlock.

Linen and towels
Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. Bed linen is not supplied for the cot.

Other provisions
A small amount of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits are provided to ensure you can have a hot drink as soon as you arrive. There may also be other non-perishable items like a salt, pepper and a few herbs or spices available.
Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid, washing powder and surface cleaner will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided.

Outside the property
Worthy Cottage has its own private garden.  There is walking straight from the door into the woods behind or down to the beach where dogs are allowed all year round.

Parking
Off-road parking for one car is available directly outside the property.

Dogs
Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (maximum of 2). A supplementary fee of £25 will be added to your invoice. Please do not allow your dogs on the furniture or upstairs and do not leave them alone in the property at any time.

Smoking
Worthy Cottage is strictly non-smoking.

Local amenities
The harbour is the 'centre' of Porlock Weir, which is 1/2 mile from Worthy Cottage - across the fields or by road. There are two restaurants (The Cafe and Miller's at the Anchor), a pub (all three are dog-friendly) and a range of individual shops such as tea rooms, Exmoor Glass and Studio 7 (imported beautiful textiles).

The village of Porlock is approximately 2 miles from Worthy Cottage and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, petrol station, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms.

Many of the shops in Porlock Weir and Porlock are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season.

Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 7 miles from Worthy Cottage. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.

Arrival and departure
The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests.

Changeover days
Worthy Cottage is available for week breaks (Friday to Friday) during peak periods.  Short breaks of three or four nights (from Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday) are available at other times.  Please see our availability page for further details.
