"Redefining Chemistry: Crafting Organic Molecules with a Greener Perspective" 

The VT Lab is located in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry (G-Block) at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala, Punjab. We specialize in organic synthetic chemistry, with a particular emphasis on advancing eco-friendly methodologies for producing bioactive organic compounds. Our primary focus involves leveraging enzymes as environmentally friendly and reusable catalysts for organic transformations. Additionally, we are exploring the integration of biocatalysis with electro- or chemical-catalysis in a one-step process to create a sustainable and selective approach to organic molecule synthesis. Furthermore, we are actively engaged in pioneering novel transition metal-catalyzed cascade reactions, employing diazo compounds as carbene precursors, to efficiently synthesize N-heterocycles.
