New Hope, New Beginning with TESDA

Ms. Manilyn F. Angob, a native of Caramcam District, Mangagoy, Bislig City and who belongs to mamanua tribe, shared her story how TESDA changed her life with a new hope and a new beginning.

Fourth among the six siblings, was raised with a very simple life by a father who is a fisherman and a mother who is a plain housewife. Her primary and secondary education was hardly earned and was made possible with the support of her elder sister who is a fish vendor.

After completing High School, she enrolled a program on Computer Hardware Servicing (CHS) NC II as scholar in 2009 at Southern Technological Institute of the Philippines (STIP), Inc. with her aim to land a job and to continue her dream of finishing a course related to Computer Science. Everything has fallen into places, after undergoing the national competency assessment that time in CHS NC II, she passed and was issued with a National Certificate level II and got a job as Computer Operator at CLICKZONE INTERNET CAFÉ, Mangagoy, Bislig City. With a monthly salary of P 3,500.00, it was already enough for her to at least save money for her studies in college. In 2015, in spite of her doubts, she enrolled and successfully graduated a Two-Year Course Associate in Computer Science at Andres Soriano College, Inc., Mangagoy, Bislig City.

“It was not that easy,” she recalled. “There are times that we opt not to take two meals in a day just to save for my tuition fee and school projects. There was even a time that I almost quit because of financial reasons,” she added.

She boldly weathered all the hardships and trials during those years. To further enhance her knowledge and skills in computer technology, last March 2017 when she was informed of the TESDA scholarship on Computer Systems Servicing NC II offered at Andres Soriano College of Bislig, Inc., Mangagoy, Bislig City, without any hesitation, she enrolled the program and diligently studied the course. During the National Assessment, she was rated as Competent. It was the turning point of her life.

After the training, she got a job at the City Government of Bislig as Computer Encoder in a Job Order status detailed at the TESDA Surigao del Sur Sub Office at Mancarogo, Poblacion, Bislig City.

In search for additional knowledge and skills, on November 2017, she enrolled at Bislig City District II Skills Training Center with the program Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II and got the certification.

After her contract with the City Government of Bislig on December 2017, she was automatically absorbed by TESDA Surigao del Sur PO as Support Staff on CACS program in a Job Order status and is now earning a gross income of Seven Thousand Pesos (P 7,000.00) per month that includes her sideline income from being a masseur.

“TESDA has given me New Hope and New Beginning to continue my journey in life”, she proudly said. (NCG, TESDA-Surigao del Sur)
