Caraga partners, stakeholders feted on 22nd TESDA Anniv

BUTUAN CITY – More than forty (40) partners and stakeholders of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Caraga Region were given recognition during the region’s celebration of the agency’s 22nd anniversary held recently.

Dubbed as “2016 Araw ng Parangal: “Pagpupugay sa Kawani at Kabalikat ng TESDA,” the ceremony was conducted at Villa Maria Luisa Hotel in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

Highlighting the Awarding Ceremony is the presentation of this year’s Caraga Regional TESDA Idol and Regional Kabalikat Award.

Mr. Nelson B. Sereño, Academic Head of Systems Technology Institute of Technology in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur was declared Regional TESDA Idol while the Municipality of Tagana-an in the Province of Surigao del Norte won the Regional Kabalikat Award. The two were the region’s contenders in the national finals slated on September 22, 2016 at TESDA Central Office, Taguig City.

In his speech, TESDA-Caraga OIC-Regional Director Rey M. Cueva underscored the importance of the activity. He said the conduct of the awarding ceremony served as venue for TESDA Regional and Provincial Offices in Caraga to recognize the support extended by the Operating Units’ partners and stakeholders.

“In our own little way, we are able to express our deepest thanks and gratitude to our partners and stakeholders in the different provinces and cities in Caraga Region,” he said.

Awardees in the province of Agusan del Norte include: Orange Peel Plywood; and SR Metals, Inc. in the Industry Category. Under the Institutional Category, the Philippine Electronics and Communications Institute of Technology (PECIT); Candelaria Institute of Technology of Cabadbaran, Inc.; and the Northern Mindanao Colleges, Inc. received plaque of recognition.

Also, Mr. Celso B. Felipe from Butuan Doctor’s College was also recognized as the Provincial Tagsanay awardee while Mr. Arne Madarieta of Father Urios of Ampayon was awarded as Provincial TESDA Idol.

The Local Government Units of this city and the Municipality of Nasipit, Agusan del Norte were those awarded under the Local Government Unit (LGU) category. The 29th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army was recognized for their peace and skills development contribution to the province.

Awardees in the province of Agusan del Sur are as follows: Mayor Jose T. Cuyos of the Municipality of Rosario and Mayor Jesryl E. Masendo of Talacogon were chosen to receive plaque under the LGU category, while Mr. Asis K. Toma of the Provincial Land Transportation Office received award under the Government Partner Agency category.

Mr. Sereño, the 2016 Provincial TESDA Idol and Provincial Tagsanay awardee Mr. Jason M. Equipado were also recognized by the provincial office.

Meanwhile, Remegio Remedio and Romeo Pascual, the provincial Community Training and Employment Coordinators (CTEC) of Talacogon and Loreto, respectively were also feted during the activity.

Further, the Saint Paul University (SPU)-Surigao Campus, Surigao Education Center, and the Surigao State College of Technology (SSCT) Assessment Center lead the awardees in Surigao del Sur under the Institutional Category.

In the Industry Category, the Provincial Office has recognized Nickel Asia Corp. – Taganito Mining Company, and Platinum Group Metals Corp. (PGMC) for their regular support to the community training implemented.

Four LGUs in the province made it as among the awardees in the province: Municipality of Tagana-an, Municipality of Del Carmen, Barangay Cagdianao, and Barangay Hayanggabon.

Same with Agusan del Sur, the provincial CTECs were also accorded with honors. They are: Ma. Margarita L. Liquido, Janecito L. Jalbo, Jr., and Randy S. Petallo. Provincial Tagsanay Rene A. Nala also received Plaque of Recognition, while dxRS-RMN Surigao was awarded as Media Partner of the provincial office.

Surigao del Sur awardees are composed of: Tandag City Councilor Denis Tan, Provincial Engineer Asberto Evallar, PDRRMO Abel De Guzman, and Provincial Agriculturist Marcos Quico under the LGU category.

In the government partner category, Police Acting Provincial Director PSSupt Romaldo Bayting; 36th Infantry “Valor” Battalion, 4th Infantry Division , Philippine Army Commanding Officer Ltc Randolph P Rojas; and 75th Infantry “Marauder” Battalion, 6th Infantry Division, Philippine Army Commanding Officer Ltc Haron S Akaz were given plaque of recognition.

Meanwhile, Eduardo C. Miña of the Access for Youth Training and Employment Center in Tandag City also received plaque of recognition for being this year’s Provincial Tagsanay awardee.

Awardees in the Province of Dinagat Islands were headed by Provincial Governor Glenda B. Ecleo and Congresswoman Arlene “Kaka” Bag-ao of the Lone District of Dinagat Islands, while May Marie O. Eviota of Don Jose Ecleo Memorial Foundation College of Science and Technology was recognized as the Provincial Tagsanay. (RER, TESDA-Caraga)
