The challenge

The John G. Leach School in New Castle, DE operates as a public day school for youth with physical disabilities, and their physical education program strives to teach disabled children that they can have an impact on the world around them. The Puck is a remotely-controlled, two-wheeled vehicle that is operated with the same control metaphor that the children are used to: a single button. To control the Puck and meet additional needs of the School, the existing switch system had to be redesigned and made wireless. The Module serves as both a Wi-Fi based replacement for their switch system and the control system between the student and the Puck.

Puck, The Module and IDEAS2.0 were designed by TMIT for our Senior Design project at the Temple University College of Engineering, in partnership with Centrak.

"We [the John G. Leach School] are very thankful for the technology that we get, and we try to make the most out of everything we have. Anything you guys can make to help us out will be utilized and appreciated."
