Scholarships

PURPOSE of the Scholarship Program:
Temecula Valley Garden Club (TVGC) provides a scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 each year. The scholarship is for students majoring in areas consistent with the mission & objectives of the Temecula Valley Garden Club which includes education, resources, and national networking opportunities, to promote the love of gardening, floral design, civic and environmental responsibility.  Listed are examples of qualified majors, but are not limited to:
Botany, Conservation, Environmental Control, Floriculture, Forestry  Horticulture, Landscape Design, Plant Biology or related field of studies that support the TVGC club objectives.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

•Applicant must be a full time student currently attending an accredited College or University in Riverside or San Diego Counties of Southern California majoring in one of the stated fields.
•Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 point scale).
. All material must be typed or computer generated and include all required documents as outlined below.

THE SUBMISSION MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

1. Scholarship Application Form (download the form which is attached below).
2. Copy of Unofficial Transcripts.
3. Personal Essay (600-750 words) by Applicant (describe your skills, qualities, and qualifications).
4. List of your community service activities, hobbies, outside interests, honors.
5. Letter of Recommendation from an educator on scholastic ability & character.

SUBMIT THE APPLICATION, TRANSCRIPTS, ESSAY, LIST, AND LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION TO:

DEADLINE:

The Scholarship Application packet must be received by: May 5, 2017.

WINNER NOTIFIED:
TVGC scholarship committee will select and notify the Scholarship winner by May 26, 2017 & invite the winner to our TVGC June General Meeting.

All Applications will be judged on the following Point System.

1. Completed Application Form 20% – Extra points if student from Temecula Valley
2. Academic record (30%)
3. Applicant’s Essay (30%)
4. Listing of extra-curricular activities/work experience (10%)
5. Recommendation letter (10%)
