High Angle Rescue Training

This training is the most difficult training offered by TCSAR. The annual training takes place in one of the many cliffy (high angle) areas in the county. This is a 20-30 hour class broken up between multiple evenings and/or weekends. The physical and mental demands of this training are high. All prospective students will be reviewed by the current HART members before being allowed to take this class. Due to the demands of this class, class size may be limited.

Required Equipment:

Harness (padded harness highly recommended); UIAA approved helmet; 30 feet of 1" tubular webbing; 30 feet of 8mm accessory cord; 6 large locking carabiners (2 must be D carabiners); Chest harness or 15 additional feet of 1" tubular webbing; Rescue 8 or brake bar; gear, clothes, food, and water required to spend 10 hours in the sun working hard; gear and food necessary to spend two nights in the field.

Recommended Equipment:

Any other climbing equipment you may want to bring and anything else to help you get through the long difficult days. There is usually some downtime in the evening around the campfire. Bring whatever you want to enjoy this time. S'mores are highly recommended.
