Humanitarian System

When you first start working in disaster response it can be overwhelming trying to understand the system in which the humanitarian sector operates. There are many INGOs, of which Tearfund is one, who join the local NGOs in responding to a disaster alongside the UN organisations and the government of the country. All of these need to be able to coordinate and collaborate to ensure needs are being met with the greatest efficiency of effort and to avoid duplication and overlap. The Building a Better Response (BBR) course is designed to introduce you to all the key players, forums and mechanisms involved in coordinating a response.

The course is made up of 5 units which each take around 2 hours to complete and is also available in French and Arabic.
