The 2026 NL Summer Games saw a change in the seasons. The season of the Games was changed to better align with the Canada Games cycles. Therefore we some great action from athletes that are looking to try and make a Canada Games roster and continue their journey. The 2026 edition of the NL Games also marked the 50th anniversary of the Games, and to make it even more special it returned to the place where it all began! The 1976 NL Games were also hosted in the Corner Brook/Stephenville region. With some participation from athletes from the '76 Games at this years opening and closing ceremonies, it was a special time to reflect on where we came from and see how far we have come. The lasting impact of the Games will be felt in the community for years to come as Corner Brook and Stephenville were terrific Hosts. The City, the volunteers, and community made this a Games to remember!

FINAL RESULTS
The 2026 NL Summer Games had some incredible action and great plays, that capped off and incredible week in Corner Brook. Whether it was in the pool, on the field, or the arena there were many fantastic moments from the Games that will provide a lifetime of memories!
Ball Hockey was dominated by Mount Pearl South taking gold in both male and female, that continued with Beach Volleyball as Mount Pearl South claimed gold in both male and female divisions. St. John's North claimed gold in male baseball, female soccer, female softball, male golf.
Team Avalon put on a clinic in the pool, breaking long standing NL Games records, the Marina Redmond Centre was an incredible venue with so much great action!
Western had a great showing claiming overall team gold in Athletics, and female baseball. Rugby made its return to the NL Games after a 30 year absence, and the action on the pitch did not disappoint. Rugby quickly became a fan favourite, drawing in some fantastic crowds for some great games, with Mount Pearl South claiming gold in the male division and Team Avalon with gold in the female division!
Overall points winner was Mount Pearl South, which capped off a fantastic week and memorable performances!

AWARDS CEREMONY
As we closed out the 2026 NL Summer Games there were some great opportunities to recognize achievements that happened during the Games. As part of the closing ceremonies we handed out three trophies to different regions based on performance.
The Premier's Cup was awarded to Mount Pearl South as the region that accumulated the highest number of points throughout the NL Games.
The Sport NL Trophy was awarded to Team Labrador as the team that had shown th most improvement from one seasonal games to the next.
The Lieutenant Governor's Award went to Team Western as the region that best demonstrated the overall spirit of friendly competition and sportsmanship.
We came to Corner Brook as participants and we leave as friends, Thank you for a tremendous 50th Anniversary of the Games!
