Challenge 2013‎ > ‎

The cause: AFESIP

Support our fund raising efforts for this year!

Our mission is to raise funds to support AFESIP’s efforts to combat human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

AFESIP Laos combats the causes and consequences of human trafficking and sexual exploitation of women and girls. Traffickers tend to target young girls, around the ages of twelve and thirteen, who are often members of minority groups and live in remote villages in Northern Laos. In order to help victims of trafficking to escape from sex work, economic empowerment through vocational training and basic schooling is fundamental to promote longterm independence and safety.

AFESIP helps fight trafficking in Laos in a number of ways; from outreach work with service women in bars, brothels and entertainment venues to victim rehabilitation, legal intervention, social enterprise-based job training and placement to community reintegration and follow-up. In addition, AFESIP runs two shelters, one in Vientiane and one in Savannakhet, which provide resources, education, and lodging for  trafficked girls and women. AFESIP is the only organisation in Laos providing this type of support for victims, making its work particularly important.

With your support, together we can make the Team Dai Challenge 2013 a success!
