Training for the Challenge

Team Dai participation training requirements

Please note that from the 15th of January 2012, Team Dai Challenge 2012 participants are expected to join at least one of the trainings of Tuesday or Thursday every week + one Sunday training every two weeks. Moreover, joining two of the last three Sunday trainings is compulsory (see attached the routes we have planned for the trainings on Sunday). The main reasons for this are: we want you to be fit and we want you to get to know as many of the participants as possible.

For those who do not live in Vientiane and want to join this year, well, that is a different case and of course we cannot expect you to come to the trainings. By the way, trainings are open to everyone, whether you plan to join the challenge or not.

Starting times and places for the trainings

Every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.15 AM from the Phonthan water tower close to Sengdara Gym and Joma Bakery (Phonthan), and every Sunday at 7 AM from Joma Bakery in the centre of Vientiane (near the Nam Phou).

Training schedule

You will notice in attached schedule that the distances for the Sunday rides increase when we get closer to the dates of the Challenge. The last Sunday, however, is a shorter ride (albeit with some off-road and hills, not to get too lazy), in order to allow for some recovery and be fresh for the first day of the Challenge the following Thursday.

You will also see that for the Tuesdays and Thursdays, there are three different training plans: (i) lung capacity, (ii) endurance and (iii) leg strength. The detailed descriptions for these specific trainings are also attached.

We are looking forward to seeing you on the bike as often as possible!
