About Teach For America

Teach For America: National

Teach For America is a national organization that aims to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting high-achieving recent college graduates and professionals to teach for two or more years in high potential communities throughout the United States. The organization has been around for over 20 years and tackles educational inequity in both urban and rural areas.

The aim of the organization is two fold: ONE: get dedicated, passionate minds to give at least two years in the classroom to effect the immediate problem in our schools TWO: create a force of alumni who go on to change education from various angles. Many will stay in the classroom and many will go into jobs and careers that will alter the education system.

Teach For America: Jacksonville

Over the past five years, Teach For America-Jacksonville has begun to play an integral role in changing the lives of children. This year alone, a corps of 150 of the nation’s top recent college graduates and young professionals is impacting over 10,000 students in 38 schools across Jacksonville.

We have a vision for 2015, where corps members, alumni and the community will be working together to shift the public mindset about what is possible for children growing up in poverty and giving thousands of students the opportunity to change their life trajectories.
