Welcome to Traditions of Music, an ethno-musicological investigation from Indiana to India.  We’ll be starting off with bluegrass music here in Indiana, particularly that of Bill Monroe.  Then we’ll be tracing it back to Old Time music across the country, and the roots of that music in both Europe and Africa.  Finally, we'll explore the musics that influenced both Europe and Africa, particularly music from the Middle-East, Persia, and India.  We’ll be having weekly guest performances by musicians from all over the world as we explore their diverse musics.  Check back to this site often, for it will be your guide to due dates, assignments, lecture notes, and class information.
