Camper Policies

MUSIC BY THE LAKE CAMPER POLICIES

Because this program runs during school hours, students, parents, and/or guardians are reminded that TDSB policies and expectations of students are in place for the duration of the camp. In addition to TDSB policies, Camp Wahanowin policies are as follows:

1. Possession or use of drugs, alcohol, and/or tobacco is forbidden.

2. Campers must not bring weapons to camp, (this includes "camp knives")

3. Bullying, Teasing and Pranks of any nature are not permitted.

Campers will be dismissed from the camp without refund for breach of any of the above 3 policies.

4. Any communication must be subject to the TDSB code of conduct for personal communication devices.

5. Campers may bring cameras with them to MBTL but no pictures can be taken in any of the cabins. Campers agree to respect the privacy of those who do not want to have their picture taken. Ipods and mp3 players are permitted to be used during recreational periods only.

6. Campers must respect others, their property and belongings as well as all camp facilities, buildings and equipment. Music By The Lake, Camp Wahanowin, and the TDSB are not responsible or liable for any lost or damaged camper property.

7. Male campers are not permitted in female cabins and female campers are not permitted in male cabins.

8. Campers may not leave the campsite at any time without the permission of the Wahanowin Camp Director and the TDSB Camp Directors.

9. Camp activities and equipment cannot be used without proper permission and supervision of camp staff. In particular, all campers must stay away from the waterfront unless it is open and supervised by qualified staff.

10. From camper “bedtime” until camper “wake-up” all campers must remain in their cabins at all times.

11. Campers must attend all: meals, scheduled rehearsals, concerts and evening programs. Punctuality is extremely important for the smooth operation of camp and therefore, campers are expected to be on time for all scheduled events throughout the day.

If concerns warrant, the following measures may be put in place:

MBTL Staff may search student bags and knapsacks.

Students who are found in violation of TDSB and Camp Wahanowin Policies may be required to return to their schools for further discipline.

If students are dismissed from camp for health or safety reasons, such as serious illness or a violation of camp policy, Parents/Guardians or authorized designates will be required to pick their children up from Camp Wahanowin. The camp is not responsible for transportation for returning students to Toronto under these circumstances.
