Grade 11 Physics covers 5 main strands in introductory physics:
  1. Waves & Sound
  2. Kinematics
  3. Forces
  4. Energy
  5. Electricity & Magnetism

MaST Physics though is an enriched experience.  We focus on both a theoretical understanding of physical concepts and on hands on activities that illustrate those concepts.  Teamwork is an important part of our approach--students work together to solve problems and reinforce learning.

In addition to the 5 main strands, additional topics and enrichment activities are covered.  The Waves & Sound unit is extended to include Optics; scientific ethics are reviewed and discussed; careers in physics and engineering are examined; students work on and write the Ontario Association of Physics Teachers Grade 11 Contest and McMaster University's Physics Contest; and students spend 6 weeks working on Sci-Tech Fair projects, refining their building, experimenting, testing, analyzing and presentation skills.
