Principal 

Mr. Matt Hutchison graduated from Woodlawn High School in Woodlawn, Illinois in 1990. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from Eastern Illinois University in 1994. Mr. Hutchison earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership in 2003 from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Mr. Hutchison has been at Taylorville High School for the past 20 years. The first 9 years, Mr.Hutchison was the Athletic Director/Dean of Students and 11 years Mr. Hutchison served as the Assistant Principal at THS.  Mr. Hutchison's philosophy to help all student's succeed in their educational endeavors is reflected in the motto "Committed to Excellence in Education".  Mr. Hutchison and his wife Lisa have one son, Mason.
 




   
Vice Principal Eric Bruder

Mr. Eric Bruder grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Hazelwood East High School in 1987. He attended Culver-Stockton College and Southwest Missouri State University. In 1991, he joined the labor force and worked for 13 years as a laborer and heavy equipment operator for the St. Louis Archdiocese. He married in 1998, and soon after returned to school in 1999 pursuing a degree in history with a teaching certificate and minoring in psychology. He received his Bachelor of Science in History in May of 2004. He began teaching and coaching in the Okaw Valley School District at both the middle and high school levels eventually becoming the athletic director and high school principal in 2008 after receiving his Master of Science in Education in December of 2007. In 2013, he became principal at Nokomis High School and Junior High as well in 2014.  In 2015, he completed his Ed Specialist certification as he continued in the JH/HS principal position through the 2016 school year. He lives in Nokomis with his wife, Brenda and has three children Jaime, Jordan, and Isaiah.  Mr. Bruder’s family is continuing to grow as he and Brenda continue their foster parent journey together and are set to add 12 year old Montana to the fold. He is thrilled to become part of the Taylorville Tornado family and looks forward to supporting excellent teaching and student achievement in every manner.

 
Athletic Director 

Mr.Paul Held attended Morrisonville High School and graduated in1983. He graduated from Illinois State University in 1987 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education. After teaching 2 years at Athens High School,Mr. Held came to Taylorville and taught Mathematics for 17 years. He also coached several sports, including Baseball, Basketball, Tennis and Softball. In 2005, he became the Dean of Students and Athletic Director at THS. Mr. Held’s family includes his wife of 25 years, Dee and three children, Brandon, Emily and Kirsten.
