State Volleyball 2018 details; NO SCHOOL November 7th

The ladies have played solid all year, and their hard work and determination have paid off with a trip to State.  This is the first time in 35 years this has happened, and only the 2nd time in school history.  Yahoo!

Because of this, we need to alter our schedules a bit to allow all those folks that want to support our kids that opportunity.  There has been a fantastic following all year, and we want to do everything we can to show off our fantastic school spirit. I also want to give you all as much time as possible to plan your week.  
  • Tuesday, November 6th:  2:30-2:45 p.m.  Send the team off to state.
  • Wednesday, November 7th:  NO SCHOOL.  We play the 4:00 game at Cedar Rapids vs Sidney. 
  • IF/When we win, 
  • Thursday, November 8th would be a noon (this will allow us to serve lunch) dismissal for the 4:00 game time *
  • Friday, November 9th would be a noon dismissal for the 4:45 game time *
*keep in mind, parents are allowed to have their child(ren) leave earlier with a simple call to the office.  

IF we do not advance, we will have full days of school on Thursday and/or Friday.

State T-Shirts:  If you ordered a shirt, they will be delivered to the HS and available for pick up after 1:00, on Tuesday, November 6th.

Venue: US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, 370 1st Ave NE.  According to Google, it will take 3 hours and 16 minutes for the drive.

Bag Policy:  No large bags or backpacks are allowed.  All bags are subject to search.  

Tickets:  Tickets can be purchased at the U.S. Cellular Center Box Office for $10.  The box office will accept cash or credit cards (no personal checks or American Express).  All seating is general admission.  Tickets are available through, but will include a $2 fee.

Spectator Expectations:  Balloons, banners, signs, light or laser pens, or any paper debris (including confetti) are strictly prohibited.  Objects that provide a safety concern (pom-poms on sticks, etc.) are prohibited.  Artificial noisemakers such as air horns, megaphones, cowbells, thunder sticks, etc. are not allowed. U.S. Cellular Center policy prohibits pounding on seats. All spectators must wear a shirt and shoes during IGHSAU-sponsored tournament matches.  Shirts must be worn in a proper manner and shall not promote obscene or inappropriate content.  MASKS ARE NOT PERMITTED.

Parking:  Parking will be available in various downtown Cedar Rapids parking facilities.  If necessary, shuttles will run from the 3rd and 4th Avenue ramps.  Plan on paying $5 per day for parking for Park Cedar Rapids lots and ramps.

Picture Retake Day, which was scheduled for November 7th will now be November 12th.

School Lunch:  We will now be serving Chicken Fajitas on the 6th and Maidrites on the 8th

Daycare options:  If you and your family are not going to the game, and you are in need of Daycare, it will be open.  If you are interested in this option, you will need to contact Michaela Berg or Megan (Ryan) Severn no later than Monday, November 5th at 3:00 p.m. so we can make sure we adequate staffing.  If you have never used our Daycare, you will need to complete some paperwork.  If you are already in our program, you can look for an email from the ladies for additional information.
