The TCPS Library has a wonderful collection of materials in so many areas! Our adult nonfiction, primary readers and picture books, teen novels, biography, and poetry sections are just a handful of the Library’s offerings.
Every grade has library once a week for half an hour. We begin this time with a read aloud to the class. This is usually a story, article, or poem chosen to support the library theme for the month. The second half of the class is spent browsing for books, checking them out, and enjoying reading the books in our comfy bean bag chairs and pillows. :)
Over the course of the year, students strengthen their library skills, including how to successfully use the library for research, navigate the online card catalog, find books in the library using the Dewey Decimal System, and read independently.
There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is the best of all.
