School News & Announcements
In June 2016, TCCS performed a voluntary test of our water supply to confirm that all water outlets in the building are safe for consumption (prior to legislation requiring testing).
As presented at the July 11 Board of Trustees meeting, all water supply outlets in the school passed the inspection and were well below the legal action level (AL) for Pb.
The official test results can be viewed below.
We are pleased to welcome our official school physician Dr. Terri Smith to the TCCS Family!
ATTN: 5th-8th Grade Parents
Hello and welcome back to the 2016-2017 school year!!!
Back in June, I held a meeting for 5th-8th grade students interested in trying out for our co-ed soccer team. Tryouts will begin the week of at Terhune Park.
In order to tryout, your son or daughter will need:
1) An updated sports physical (given within the last year)
2) If they received a sports physical within the year, but longer than 90 days from the tryouts, then you must fill out the update form.
3) All players and parents must fill out the cardiac form.
All forms and links are available for viewing and/or download below.
Please email me at email@example.com with any questions. Thanks and have a great day!

Hello TCCS Parents...
I hope you are all having a great summer. September is quickly approaching and the school year is right around the corner! With this in mind, I wanted to share some important reminders and some new information pertaining to the upcoming 2016-2017 school year.
SCHOOL CALENDAR: Please take a moment to review the school calendar with A-F letter days for the coming year (attached). Our first day will be Tuesday, September 6. A digital calendar of events is also available on the school website (www.tccsnj.org) and is constantly updated.
PARENT PORTAL: Sometime next week, I will be emailing information about the TCCS parent portal, where all parents will be able to view student information (schedules, homeroom assignments, etc.) for the coming year. In addition, parents will be asked to update their contact information and answer the annual required "Parent Questions". Information for the 2016-2017 school year will not be available in the parent portal until Monday, August 29.
LUNCH ORDERS: Lunch service will begin on the first day of school. All orders must be submitted online using the link on the TCCS website (see attached image) and payment in the form of cash or check will be due on the first day of school. However, beginning with October lunch, we will begin accepting ONLINE PAYMENTS via credit/debit card or electronic check! There will be more details in the coming weeks about our new online payments program, which we are in the process of setting up. Please note: If you qualified for Free or Reduced lunch in June, your status will remain for this September order. However, all families must submit the proper paperwork (coming soon) to qualify for the remainder of the school year. IMPORTANT: The deadline for placing September lunch orders is Thursday, September 1.
AFTER SCHOOL AND BEFORE CARE PROGRAMS: Please note that online registration for our After School and Before Care programs is now open on the TCCS website. If you are interested in enrolling in either of these programs (or would like more information), please use the links that are provided. All interested families must register for the programs, even if they only plan on using them for Drop-In dates. Both programs will begin on the first day of school, so please register as soon as possible, to ensure appropriate staffing. We will also be accepting online payments for these programs. Payment will not be due until instructions for online payment are provided in the coming weeks.
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES: Please familiarize yourself with the school's arrival and dismissal procedures and traffic pattern (attached). For the sake of our students' safety, it is very important that these rules and procedures be followed on a daily basis. Unless enrolled in the before care program, students may not be dropped off at the school prior to 8am.
BUS SERVICE: If you qualify for bussing, you should have received a notification from the Teaneck Board of Education. At this time, subscription bussing is not being offered, but we will advise if anything changes. If you have any other transportation questions, please contact the Teaneck Board of Education directly.
PARCC SCORES: The state has advised that the school will receive paper copies of individual student score reports between August 22 and August 31, 2016. As soon as we receive them, we will be mailing them to your homes.
SUMMER READING: All students entering grades 1-8 must read over the summer and complete the assignments that are posted on the TCCS website. Please visit http://www.tccsnj.org/tccs-summer-reading for complete details.
ACTS OF KINDNESS: In June, we asked all students to make an effort to commit acts of kindness this summer, which should be reported using the link on the school website. We plan to display these acts in the main hallway of the school and to recognize and celebrate the kindness of our community in a schoolwide assembly in September. Please encourage your students to fill out the online form by the end of August, as we would really like to hear from EVERY student before the start of the school year. It only takes a minute and ANY kind act can be reported - no matter how large or small it may seem...
FREE BACKPACKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES: The school recently received a generous donation of backpacks filled with school supplies that we are pleased to give away to the TCCS community. If you are interested, please stop into the main office any day between 9am and 3pm while supplies last!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Otherwise, enjoy the rest of your summer and keep an eye out for next week's parent portal email.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Lead Person / Director of Operations
Teaneck Community Charter School
