The iPod Shuffle has no display screen, so you'd think it would be a horrible player for audiobooks. And, in most cases, you'd be right. But if you are visually impaired and need a player that you can operate totally by touch, the Shuffle is a great option.
Unfortunately, it is more complicated to get audiobooks onto than the newer iPods. I have added instructions for MP3 and WMA audiobooks to the Cheat Sheets section of this site. I would appreciate suggestions for improvement from anyone who uses a Shuffle as an audiobook reader.
