Sport is a big part of life at Tawa Intermediate School. It helps build a positive school culture, promotes student self belief and a climate of fair play and camaraderie.
Tawa Intermediate sports teams have become a competitive force in Wellington sports events, and have built a reputation as a hard but fair opponent. We regularly challenge for Wellington regional titles and our success in swimming and rugby sevens at the NZCT AIMS Games have made our school known throughout New Zealand.
We love fitness at TIS. Our whole school participates in an Ultimate Fitness Challenge, a fitness program developed in conjunction with Results Room Gym. The programme consists of workouts designed specifically for 11-13 year olds, and covers things like speed, agility, flexibility, plyometrics, and strength. You can learn more about this programme and view the workouts in the UFC tab.
We work hard to provide all of our students with an opportunity to develop their sporting skills. At Tawa Intermediate we do this through several avenues:
- Our class PE programme
- The Ultimate Fitness Challenge
- Interclass Competitions
- Inter-intermediate competitions
- Exchanges and National events.
