Joey Hiller
Assistant Athletic Director

The Head Baseball and Softball Coach has been at Tattnall Square since 1997 and since taking over as the Head Baseball Coach in 1999, he has won 533 games. He took the reins of the softball program when Tattnall made the transition to fast-pitch in 2001 and has added 407 wins as head coach of that program. He has won 10 State Championships in baseball and another in softball.

Now Hiller’s track record for excellence will move into the administrative area as he was named Assistant Athletic

Hiller will join forces with Athletic Director Todd Whetsel, who says Coach Hiller is a “highly accomplished coach whose experience and knowledge will be a tremendous asset in this new role.”

“It is an absolute honor to be able to serve Tattnall Square Academy and its community in this capacity,” said Hiller, who was also an Assistant Football Coach under Barney Hester for six years. “I look forward to the opportunity to make a positive impact in our Athletic Department and assist in any way the Administration needs me to. I have been devoted to this school ever since I was hired in 1997, and I fully intend to continue to strive for excellence in all areas of our Athletic Department.”

Tattnall Athletics

Some of the best opportunities to teach students to lead and rally together for a common purpose begin on a team, and some of our students’ best Tattnall Square Academy memories are those shared out on the field.Wins and losses aside, the real benefit of athletics is how it builds good character when approached with a healthy perspective. Through the emotional and strategic negotiation that happens on a team, responsibility is learned and leadership is instilled as students encourage one another on the track, field, court, and every other playing arena.

We offer 20 sports (boys and girls), and field 42 teams in those sports at the Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity levels.

Approximately 75 percent of Tattnall students in grades 7-12 participate in School-sponsored athletics.
