During the past week, we (football club members) have participated in a futsal tournament and also played a game against Karuizawa High School. While we did not do as well in the futsal tournament, we were more united than ever at the end of the tournament, and this in turn resulted in our win the next day against Karuizawa High School.
In order to make it to the futsal tournament, we had to practice and improve our skills, and so we dedicated at least 4 hours a week for intensive practice. This demonstrates our commitment to the club, and also shows how much passion we have for football. Obviously, we had many members drop out as they could not honor this commitment, however, the group that did end up going to the tournament was the one that went to the tournament and performed. In the actual tournament, we started slow with a 4-1 loss and this was really frustrating. I recall the captain talking to us after the game and telling us that were better than this and that we were unlucky. This meant a lot to us and so we went on to perform and even win in some games. It is understandable why we did not advance far in the competition as other teams have been practicing together for years, however we understood that we had to have such experiences and challenges to improve .
In the second day, we had a friendly game against Karuizawa High School. As I mentioned earlier, we won and it was actually by a vast difference (14-5). This was all due to the fact that we were united as a team. In the Futsal tournament, we were still adapting to each other and although we have been practicing together for a while, it is always different when we are against other schools. In the friendly game, we all understood each other and also understood that we win and lose together,
Overall, it was a pretty fun weekend and we all had a lot of fun. Looking forward to what football club has in store for the future.
