Traditional Taiko Drumming

We are passionate about taiko drumming, the art of Japanese martial drumming with beautiful, strong bass tones combined with powerful group rhythms and dynamic choreography.

Taiko is one of the oldest styles of Gagaku — court music — which was once played in ancient castles and shrines across Japan.

Originally of Chinese origin, the various drums of Taiko were brought to Japan between the Yayoi period — 500 BC–300 AD.

Taiko is played across Japan and have captured audience around the world. Taiko drumming is an essential part of Matsuri - traditional Japanese festivals, with rhythms representing the heartbeat of festivals.
