Members,
I am very excited to say we are all set for our field trip to Sarah Jane Johnson church.  This will be a great Christmas season service outreach project.  We will be wrapping presents for the children of Broome County prison inmates.  SJJ has already purchased the gifts, and we are needed to wrap them.  SJJ will then deliever the gifts to the children.  This is a very excitng opportunity, and actually this is our first Club field trip. Please sign-up for this event, and do not forget to turn in your permission slip.

Members,
Happy Thanksgiving!  I'm very thankful for all our amazing and dedicated members.  Thank you for all the hours you have sacrificed for our Club. Without you and your ability to share your talents and blessings, we wouldn't have such a successful Club.  I hope you all take this much needed Thanksgiving Break to rest, relax, and recharge with family, friends, and loved ones.  When we return to school, we will have a strong line-up of Christmas Season service projects.
    Our upcoming events are exciting:
Our Club has reserved the CSBC Jeep Raffle Ticket Sales Booth at the Oakdale Mall on November 26th!
We will continue our Salvation Army Bell Ringing on December 2nd and December 9th!
Field Trip to Sarah Jane Johnson Methodist Church to wrap presents for the children of BC County Prison inmates on December 6th!
Our Club Christmas Party will be hosted by the Social Committee on December 13th!
The gift wrapping service project will happen regardless, but I am looking into getting a bus to transport as many members as possible to the gift wrapping event.
Finally, I'm pleased to report that our Halloween Dress Down fundraiser brought in $235, and that money will be donated to UNICEF.

Thomas Davis, President

Members,
Happy Halloweekend! Our Trick or Treat for UNICEF project is this week! If you haven't signed-up, there is still time. Please see me as soon as possible.  In addition, as announced at our Member Club Meeting on Friday, we will be having a school-wide Dress Down Day this Tuesday for Halloween!  This will cost $1, and all dress down money will go towards our Trick or Treat for UNICEF collection.  Yes- there will be a prize for the best costume! I'm so glad Key Club was able to sponsor this Halloween Dress Down Day!
Please continue to sign-up for and spread the word about our Fall Rally on the 12th!  We need outstanding participation and attendance to show the Division that we are the best Key Club.  Futhermore, there will be great food, friendship, and information about service projects, how to get more involved, and an actual service project during the Rally.  Please join us! The Google Form to RSVP can be found here .
Please complete your October Service Report Form. This is due Nov. 5th.
Please check out the September Division Newsletter!
Lastly, I have confirmed dates for Stage One of our 2016 Salvation Army Bell Ringing Service Project: November 18 & December 2.  I discussed most of the information at our Member Club Meeting on Friday, but if you have any questions or want to become more involved and perhaps be a Day Captain for a location please talk to me. Sign-up forms are available here.  We need everyone to participate!

Members,
On November 12, we will join our entire Division, as well as Division 22, for the first Fall Rally in over one decade.  This is a very exciting event for our Division, so I hope many of our club members and Leadership Team can attend.  There will be a service project involved, so it will be an excellent opportunity to spend your Sunday! I want this to be a great success for our Division, and even more importantly, I want to have the most faces there.  This is our opportunity to show the entire Division how awesome and successful our Club is!  The Google Form to RSVP can be found here, so please sign-up and make sure your best friend attends too!
I'm currently in negotiations with the SCC Student Council and Administration to get a Dress Down Day for Halloween, my least favorite holiday.  If approved, all donations will be added to our total Trick or Treat for UNICEF collection.  By the way, there is still time to sign-up to help out the children!  Please contact me directly if you'd like to join us!
Salvation Army Bell Ringing is right around the corner! I should have dates for November in the next few days.  We are going to have a busy holiday service season!

Thomas Davis, President

Members,
Our 2017 Broome County River Clean-Up was a great success.  This past Saturday, our elected officers and other members participated by collecting trash from along the Susquehanna River from Oak St. to Vermont Ave.  Over 75 pounds of plastic, rubber, paper, construction material, and other items were picked and bagged.  I'm very thankful for our active members who woke up early--sacrificing their time to sleep in--and got dirty to help our environment.  These members symbolize our motto: "CARING -- Our Way of Life." Not only do these members care for our Seton and Binghamton community, but we reach out to the Broome County level and care for more than just people, we care for our environment.  With recent efforts to improve our climate on the national scale, it was awesome to get to work and make a substantial improvement close to home.
This project would not have been possible without our awesome advisor, Mrs. Wright.  She worked closely with the County to make sure we were involved in the River Clean-Up for yet another year.  As our AP Enviornmental Science teacher, not only does she embody the mission of our Club with environmental service projects, but in all her lessons and love in the classroom.  Thank you, Mrs. Wright!

Members,
Thank you to all who participated in the Chipotle Fundraiser last week!  Our Club Treasurer, Meghan Wenzinger, has received paperwork and documentation from Chipotle to confirm we raised $103.95!  Meghan will be depositing the check into our account when received from Chipotle Corporate in which we will then donate to the continued relief efforts in Port Arthur, Texas. Our Secretary, Anna Korchak, has reported our funds to NY District Key Club, thus this fundraiser is complete!  Chipotle was very helpful.  I cannot thank them enough for allowing us to host a fundraiser at their Vestal location.
As mentioned in my Inagural Address in May, I plan to proactively facilitate more fundraisers over my term as President.  Our Fundraising Committee, chaired by Andre Haykal, will be held accountable for productive fundraisers throughout this School Year.  In addition to our hands-on volunteer projects, fundraising is crucial because it opens new doors.  With recent natural diasters across our great country, our Club must act to assist the victims.  However, it's nearly impossible for our Club to provide hands-on participation in places like Texas, Louisiana, Puerto Rico, and Florida.  Thus, accumulating funds to disseminate to worthy causes--locally and nationally--is another extension of our Club's effort to meet the needs of our fellow human beings.  I ask for the continued support of our members in both service projects and fundraisers as the year continues.

Thomas Davis, President

Members,
Happy October! Spooky, isn't it!  In celebration of my least favorite holiday, I'm pleased to announce our Club will be participating in "Trick or Treat for UNICEF.  "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF began 67 years ago as a way to help kids still affected by World War II. Since then, millions of children across the United States have gone door to door on Halloween with UNICEF collection boxes, calling out, "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!" The annual tradition of Kids Helping Kids® — involving donations big and small — has helped to raise more than $175 million since 1950." Any member interested in becoming involved should contact their Class Director so we can provide you with your collection box.  This is a project we did not have during the Ryan Administration.  As someone who has not gone Trick or Treating since I was 8, I am surprisingly excited to act like a child again and raise money for an amazing cause! I hope many members will join me and participate!

Thomas Davis, President

Members,
Our first Club Member meeting will be held this upcoming Tuesday at 8am in the SCC Library.  We will discuss upcoming service opportunities and club events, especially our Chipotle Fundraiser on Wednesday 5-9pm.  Please bring your families and dine-in at the Vestal location.  Please remember to mention that you are supporting our SCC Key Club when you pay the cashier.  Fifty percent of your check will be donated to our Club's fund to help Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief efforts.
We will be collecting names and sizes from members who are interested in purchasing our SCC Key Club Shirt.  We have a few left from our last order.  If you are interested, talk to your Class Director. Finally, please remember that Club Dues need to be paid by this Friday(9/29) and your Returning Member Update Form must be completed as well.  Thank you!

Members,
I'd like to thank all of those who woke up early yesterday to help dig for potatoes at the Annual Potato Harvest.  While they continue to weigh the harvest, I want to remind you that your hard work will be donated to our partner, the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.  We owe appreciation to all the organizers of this event including the selfless farmers who continue to plant and tend to the fields year after year.  Furthermore, this project was an excellent example of the strong relationship with the Seton Catholic Central Catholic Service Opportunites Board.  Together we had help from more than 130 Seton students and Key Club Members.
I will be meeting with the Board of Directors this Wednesday to discuss our service plans for the coming month, scholarship opportunities, monthly donation approvals, and assign committee tasks.  I'm proud to have such a dedicated and strong Leadership Team.  For members who are interested in the organization of our Club, I will be posting our monthly Club and Board minutes and agendas on this website following approvals.  I encourage all members who may be interested in running for a leadership postiton to review these minutes and become familiar with how we operate.
Finally, I'd like to wish a very Happy Birthday to our charter Vice-President, Mr. Brendan Burtis.

Yours in Service,
Thomas Davis, President

Members,
I hope you all are beginning to settle into your daily school routines.  With that, Key Club will return to normal club schedules including Board of Directors meetings, Club meetings, and weekly service projects.  I hope to see strong attendance and participation at these meetings and events.  Throughout the year, I will continue the theme that our Club's success is based on the participation and passion of the members.  I, along with my Leadership Team, will continue to work hard to provide the Club with worthy service projects and events as well as strong daily organization.
That being said, the Returning Member Update Form has been published and is available on our website.  It is 100% necessary that you all complete this form annually so we can keep our member roster updated.  This is our main focus during our Fall Membership Drive.  With the exception of graduated Seniors, I expect to retain 100% of our membership.  Furthermore, it is also a pleasure to welcome new members to our Club.  Welcoming new members and retaining members are the duties of our Class Directors and Chairman of Membership Recruitment, but it also on our current members to spread the word about our great Club.  The SCC Club Fair is coming up, so I look forward to adding new, passionate individuals.
Please contact me anytime if you have any questions about the Returning Member Update Form or need a New Member Application. Both can be found on this website. Please be aware that annual Club Dues need to be paid to Anna Korchak or Meghan Wenzinger by September 29th.  It's going to be a great year!

Thomas Davis, President

Members & Families,
I am truly saddened by the awful effects of Hurricane Harvey on our Texan friends.  Thankfully, the network of Key Club and Kiwanis has opened doors to enable us to send help and resources to assist in the clean-up and rebuild of the Greater Houston Area.  I have been in contact with our Kiwanis Advisor who has connected our Club with the NY Kiwanis Disaster Relief Fund.  I have made the decision that 100% of the funds raised through our Chipotle Fundraiser will be sent directly to this fund.  Please reach out to and encourage as many people as possible to attend our Chipotle Fundraiser on September 27th from 5p-9p.  With every meal purchased, we really can make a difference.

Welcome back, Key Club Members!
The 2017-2018 School & Service Year is upon us.  Over the Summer, we have made great changes in order to better communicate, increase participation, access more students, streamline sign-ups, gone paperless, fostered the growth of our 7-8 Grade Builders' Club, and made connections and scholarship opportunities with new service groups and organizations.
As we all return back from an awesome vacation, I encourage you all to hold Key Club close to your hearts.  With your great enthusiasm during service events and willingness to donate to charitiable causes and collections, we can change the world for better with one small deed at a time.  The success of our Club is based on the passion of the members, and I have no doubt that to you will be active throughout the year in service of others.  As you settle into your routines at the beginning of this new school year, make it a habit to check our website weekly in order to stay up to date on service projects and opportunities, as well as Club events.  I am always here to hear your suggestions, ideas, and opinions, and please let me know if I can assist you in any way.

Yours in Service,
Thomas Davis, President
