Classroom Happenings

What’s Happening in Mrs. Isbell’s Kindergarten

It looks like winter is finally here.  We do go outside everyday, so please be sure to send in hats, mittens, boots and a warm jacket.

We met Lily in Super kids this week.  We are moving right along with our letter sounds and blending of words.  Please practice reading the blending sheets I sent home last week.  Students should be able to blend letters learned.  Your child can also go onto Superkids which will reinforce skills and sounds taught.

We  continued to  compose and decompose numbers through 10.  Your child can practice at home using real life objects.  For example: 3 and 7 make 10, or 4 and 3 make 7.

Forces and Motion

We identified  Advent as a time to wait and prepare for Christmas and the celebration of Jesus' birthday.  We identified Mary as the Mother of Jesus, learned all about St. Nicholas and celebrated his feast day with a treat.  As we wait for Christmas we are mindful of all the acts of kindness we can do that help us prepare.  We ended the week by going to mass to Celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Looking Ahead:

If you are looking for a real tree, Holy Family School is selling Fraser firs $55 all sizes.

Little Shoppers-    We will shop on Tuesday.  I have tags at school, so if your child still needs to fill them out, we can do it here.  Just be sure to send in the list of who they are buying gifts for.

Christmas Concert- Thursday, December 14th 7:00 pm.. Please have your child in the church by 6:45.  We are sitting on the side of the church closest to the school.  You may pick your child up after the concert from me.

Polar Express Day- Friday, December 15th.  Students should wear their pajamas to school on Friday.  We will have a fun day celebrating and taking an imaginary ride on the Polar Express.

Christmas Party- Thursday, December 21st.   Out of uniform day...wear red, green or holdiay clothing.

Thanks for all you do.
