Holy Family School
Grade 5
                                  Meet Mrs. Harding

I have been loving teaching in Catholic Schools for twenty-three years now.  This is my sixteenth year here at Holy Family School.  I am a graduate of St. Margaret's School in Mattydale.  Degrees I have earned include an AA Degree in Humanities from Onondaga Community College, BS Degree in Elementary Education from Oswego State University, and an MS Degree in Elementary Education from LeMoyne College.  I have two New York State Professional Teaching Certificates, one for Grades One through Six and a second one for Grades Five through Nine.  Additionally, after completing a two year Diocesan Formation for Ministry program, I was commissioned by Bishop Moynihan as a Catechetical Lay Minister of the Church in the year 2000.  I have been a member of the Parish Council at St. Mary’s Church in Baldwinsville for nine years.  I have also been the Director of the Children’s Liturgy of the Word program at St. Mary’s for the past thirteen years.

My husband and I have been married for forty-two years.  During many summers we have hosted children, ten and eleven years old, from Ireland through a program called ‘Project Children’.  The program takes children out of dangerous areas of Ireland and brings them to a safe place for a Summer of Peace.  Over the years we have hosted twenty-two Irish children.

One of my favorite projects that I love doing with my Holy Family fifth grade students is our annual Gemstone Rosary Project. Each year we have fund raisers to raise enough money to purchase gemstones, centerpieces, crucifixes, and chain to make one rosary for each child.  The children learn how to make the rosary themselves and in the process they learn all about praying the Rosary.
