Villa Maths Week

It has definitely been a busy week for Villa with our final events for Maths Week coming to an end.

We had a wonderful Maths Trivia Competition on Tuesday which was lots of fun. 48 teams across the school participated, made up of approximately 10 children from various grades. There were 15 questions for all the teams to answer which were announced over the microphone and displayed on the SMARTBoards in each room. Congratulations to all children who were very sensible and cooperative and who worked together during the game. We had 6 teams who got all the answers correct, however there was only one team who met the requirements, answering the last question with an accurate and well drawn diagram as part of their answer. Congratulations to the overall winners Team 21!!!

Our World of Maths Roadshow incursion was enjoyed by all children. Their mathematical thinking was challenged as they participated in various problem solving tasks. Some of these tasks included following directions, measuring the mass of objects, determining the shortest routes and measuring distance, and completing tricky shape puzzles.

Our final event was our Villa Maths Mufti. Thank you to all the children and teachers who made the effort to dress up in some creative mathematical costumes, including the calculators, numbers, dice and dominoes. There were even some pretty impressive Google Peg Men who made an appearance. Well done and we hope you had fun.
