St Patrick's Day Celebrations

St Patrick's Day is celebrated on 17th March. This religious feast day has been celebrated by the Irish for over a thousand years. On St Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink, and feast.

As a school community we will be celebrating this wonderful feast day next Tuesday. We will begin the day with some Irish Dancing from one of our very talented students and a parade with the children displaying their St Patrick’s Day outfits. There will also be many special activities organised by the Year 5 students for children to participate in during recess. All contributions will go towards our Project Compassion Appeal.

Happy St Patrick’s Day to all!
