Soccer Gala Day

Germany may have won the World Cup recently but the enthusiasm, skill and determination of our “Villa Socceroos” would give them a run for their money. On Tuesday 137 children from Years 3-6 participated in a “Soccer Gala Day” at Meadowbank Park. The teams consisted of regular soccer players to first time novices who quickly found their feet on the field. The day was not for winning but for enjoyment and the fun of playing soccer as part of a team. The enjoyment and fun was clearly visible on all the children’s faces as they raced around the field all day.

A special thank you to the parents who managed the teams, assisted with transport and to the many spectators who cheered and encouraged the children throughout the day. All in all the sportsmanship, teamwork, excitement and weather added up to a fantastic day.
