Catholic School Funding: It's Time to Act

posted 22 Jun 2017, 14:48 by Michelle Virgona
An important email was sent out from Dr Dan White the Executive Director of Catholic Schools to every parent this week. This email was called Gonski 2.0: Parent Forum Wrap Up. If you have not read this email please do not overlook it. Here are a couple of key notes from the letter.
"A real strength of our Archdiocesan Parish and regional schools over the past 50 years has been our ability to operate as a low-fee system of schools. Keeping school fees at an affordable level for ALL families across Sydney has been a fundamental goal of our campaign." "To date, the Federal Government has shown NO inclination to adjust the indexation rate for low-fee Catholic schools. A Sun Herald article published on 18 June clearly showed, from Department of Education data, that the nation’s public schools would ‘receive a $4 billion windfall over the next decade’, while Catholic schools would be ‘$4.6 billion worse off under the current legislation’." "Sydney Catholic Schools with your support will continue to advocate for the needs and rights of all families attending Catholic schools, right up to the next Federal election." "Thank you, as always, for the gift and privilege of educating your children in the Catholic tradition."
