Buen Camino

During the recent school holiday’s ten staff from Villa Maria, husbands and friends travelled to Spain to walk 200 kms of the Camino de Santiago. It was both a physical challenge and a spiritual journey as we walked and talked with other “Pilgrims” along the country roads and tracks of rural Spain. Each day brought new experiences, along with aches and pains, as we walked from Astorga to Santiago de
Compostela.
We heard the words 'Buen Camino' many times as it is said to those who are walking and literally means good road in Spanish. And yes we did have a very good road every day!  The warmth of the Spanish people, sights, food and scenery that we encountered along the way made this truly a remarkable journey.

To say that this event was life changing is an understatement. To walk in the footsteps of St James and thethousands of Pilgrims who have travelled the same well-worn path was an experience to truly walk with God. In our lives there are many 'Bucket List' moments that we hope to experience and tick off. This was indeed one of those moments and one that will last with us for a life time. A big thank you to all the families in our Villa Maria Community who prayed for us and gave us rocks to place at The Iron Cross.
