Principal's Welcome

Welcome to St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Stanmore.

Inspired by God’s mercy, we are a dynamic and faith filled Catholic community that creates diverse learning opportunities which enable all to strive for their best.

St Michael’s Catholic Primary School is a Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) single stream (with a combined Stage 3), co educational primary school in the suburb of Stanmore. It was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1912. The school is now linked to the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy, Australia and Papua New Guinea. The traditional charisms of the Sisters of Mercy; compassion, courage, respect and hospitality are evident in the daily life of the school. These values are also linked to the school motto ‘Together’, which places emphasis on the importance of a welcoming and cohesive community.

Our relationship with our Parish Priest, Fr John Miliken and the parish of St Michael’s is very important to us. The school has strong links with the parish through involvement in sacramental programs and family masses. School masses are open to members of the parish and provide the opportunity to link the school and parish community through faith celebration. Our Family Educator works collaboratively with the parish and school to assist in the continuation of building a dynamic faith community.

The physical environment of St Michael’s has undergone recent refurbishment with a revitalised garden and outdoor learning space. The Kindergarten classroom and school foyer, which have also been renovated, create a welcoming entrance to the school. The students have varied opportunities for play and learning through access to multiple spaces including Weekley Park located next to the school. Other spaces for learning that are welcoming, spacious and multi purpose include large learning spaces (classrooms) a multi purpose hall and a well resourced Library. Like all learning spaces, our Library is an open, inviting learning area that is widely used for learning and passive play.

All our staff are very dedicated, hardworking and committed to helping our students grow in their learning. All teachers work collaboratively with students and parents to create a learning environment that promotes opportunities for us all to strive for our best.

Thank you for taking the time to view and read our website. I hope it gives an insight into our wonderful school.
