Principal's Message

They are like trees that grow beside a stream,
that bear fruit at the right time,
and whose leaves do not dry up.
They succeed in everything they do.
Psalms 1:3

St Michael's Catholic Primary School Meadowbank is a systemic Catholic Primary School for boys and girls, from Kindergarten to Year 6, in the Archdiocese of Sydney. St Michael's was established in 1922 by the Sisters of Mercy. Today, we continue to build upon and celebrate the rich tradition of the Sisters of Mercy. Our school is a dynamic and welcoming community with strong partnership between school, home and parish. Inspired by the model of Jesus Christ, we welcome families from many different cultures who bring a richness and diversity to our country and school community.

As a Catholic community it is our Mission at St Michael's to celebrate the richness of our faith, nurture a love of learning and sustain a life giving community. St Michael's offers a comprehensive curriculum including Religious Education and the Key Learning Areas mandated by the New South Wales Board of Studies. To meet the diverse needs of our students we offer specialist programs, such as Special Education, English as a Second Language, Reading Recovery, Music and Physical Education. Having a strong emphasis on the Creative Arts, we offer an optional Music tuition program providing the opportunity for children to learn a musical instrument and to join one of our ensembles or bands.

Our Vision for Learning aligns some very essential school features such as our school’s educative vision, our teaching and learning or pedagogical principles, community expectations and professional development.

Our Vision for Learning is "From this Hill, We will Soar"

Sister Cecily Gaudry, a sister of Mercy and past principal of St Michael’s commented in her farewell speech that from this school, here on this hill we have a vision for the future. And so, from this hill our vision is to provide the children in our school with opportunities to soar……. In accessing knowledge, to be innovative, creative problem solvers, to take risks, to be empowered as students and to be successful in their lives. We believe these skills are essential for students in a contemporary world.

St Michael's has a dedicated and dynamic staff committed to providing quality teaching and learning in a safe, welcoming and well-resourced environment. Our differentiated programs are evidence of our commitment to the uniqueness of each student and our skill in catering to individual needs.

We thank you for entrusting your child to our school.
