Principal's Message

As a Catholic school we are guided by the words and example of Jesus Christ. Our challenge is to live and learn the Gospel values and the traditions of our Catholic faith. If we fail in this duty then we are not making our school distinctively Catholic. Visitors to St Michael’s should instantly recognise that we are a Catholic school and a part of the broader Catholic Church. The things that people see and hear in our school should speak of the Church. As a school and parish community we must stand tall and be proudly Catholic.

We must also acknowledge the heritage endowed upon our school by the Sisters of Mercy, as this is a most important and fundamental facet of our story.

Our school motto, “Love and Loyalty”, should inspire us in our words and actions. The Gospel message, “This is my commandment, love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12) defines for us the very nature of our relationship with each other. If we are to be authentic, Catholic people it is obvious that love will underpin our interaction with everyone that we know and meet in life. We must be loyal to each other, loyal to our school, and most importantly, loyal to our God and Church.

I pray that God will bless you, your families and the work you do to enrich our school community.
