Family and Faith

The Family and Faith program is an initiative of Sydney Catholic Schools that has been part of St. Mark's Drummoyne since 2010. The four Domains/Key Areas of the Family & Faith program  link closely and are the main areas that the Family Educator works to promote within the school.  The Family  and Faith program arose from a need identified within Catholic Primary Schools. It was recognised that families require support in connecting with their faith and in supporting family well being.

The Family Educator works in new and creative ways to promote the following four Domains:

1. Connecting/reconnecting/enhancing the faith life of parents. This is done through initiatives such as Christian Meditation, parent prayer groups, the F&F newsletter & child/parent reflection mornings.

2. Connecting/reconnecting/enhancing families to the faith life of the school. Initiatives such as parents dramatising the Stations of the Cross connect families to the faith life of the school as well as sending home Refugee Week packs & Lent/Holy Week prayer mats for each family.

3. Connecting/reconnecting/enhancing families to the faith life of the Parish. Initiatives that promote connection to the parish are Family Masses & morning teas, Youth Mass choir, parents volunteering at St. Canice's Kitchen & families supporting Vinnies Night Patrol.

4. Enhancing family well-being. Initiatives that support this area include Playgroup, Anxiety & Nutrition Workshops, Seasons for Growth Grief seminar & Family Week Games & picnic afternoon.
