Parent Teacher Interviews

posted 14 May 2014, 21:46 by maria.sabio@syd.catholic.edu.au   [ updated 14 May 2014, 21:48 ]

This year, the booking of Parent Teacher Interview times will be different. Beginning Week 9 Term 2 (beginning Monday 23rd
online portal called School Interviews Online.

Parent-teacher interviews are the cornerstone of the relationship between parents and teachers, and directly affect educational outcomes. The easier it is to book interviews, the more parents will attend - and School Interviews makes bookings much easier.

Our school in the past organised parent-teacher interviews by:
  1. Teachers creating a timetable
  2. Student taking a booking form home
  3. Parents select appropriate time
  4. Return booking sheet
  5. Teachers piece together a weekly schedule for Parent Teacher Interviews after meeting with other teachers, keeping in mind siblings.
There are many concerns with this method especially if your child loses the form, is absent for a period of time or if there are two or more students from the same family, trying to facilitate interview times on the same day, around the same time is practically impossible with a school the size of St Mary’s.

Better for our school

School Interviews Online transforms this process by using the internet to let parents make the bookings

  • Parents choose the teachers and times that they want, removing any chance of timetable conflicts. They'll be delighted to be able to book everything in a couple of minutes, instead of having to hassle their children over several days.
  • Parents get an emailed confirmation of their interviews, and can confirm, cancel or re-schedule on the internet at any time - which also reduces calls to the school office.
  • Teachers will be glad to have one less chore to squeeze into their teaching time.
  • The school support staff can set up an interview evening in minutes, without printing a single sheet. The reduced number of phone calls about interviews can be handled efficiently from the office, so they won't need to run around the school looking for teachers.

Is your child interested in singing AND would like to join the School Choir?

If YES, the School Choir rehearses every Thursday in the Library Annex at Recess from 11.10am – 11.40am.

Your child will have the opportunity of performing at school liturgies, school functions and at venues in the local community.

I look forward to meeting new faces at our next rehearsal on Thursday, 8 May 2014.
