Principal's Message

Welcome to St Mary's Catholic Primary, Concord. I hope your time here with us will be happy and blessed by God. May your child find our school a place of friendship, joy, discovery, challenge and learning. The dedicated and committed staff members at St Mary's Primary are aware of the special privilege they share with you in the education of your child. Together in partnership with you, we will work to enable your child develop his/her full potential spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically. This will be achieved in a Catholic learning environment that fosters Gospel Values modelled in the person of Christ.

This school is part of the parish of St Mary's and was established in the first church at Concord between 1850 and 1853. It provides Catholic education for boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6.

The school is part of a system of schools operated by the Catholic Education Office in the Archdiocese of Sydney. The school is strongly supported by the Parish of St Mary's through the leadership of our Parish Priest Fr Paul Crowley.

This school has an enrolment of around 522 boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6. Students are taught by a dedicated team of professionals: classroom teachers, E.S.L (English as a Second Language) teachers, Teacher Librarian, Reading Recovery teachers (Intervention), Itinerant teachers, Extension & Gifted Education teacher, Specialist Music, Physical Education and Personal development & Health teachers, a Special Education teacher and Teacher Aides for children with special learning needs and large class sizes. We have two School Secretaries who will handle any initial queries or concerns during your child's time with us.

Our School Curriculum promotes a stimulating, enriched learning environment where each child is challenged to experience success and positive self-esteem. We recognise that children learn at different rates and in different ways. Therefore we provide learning experiences that are child centred, differentiated, relevant and meaningful. Our vision for learning: Open Minds, Open Hearts, Open Hands enables students to achieve their full potential. Teachers set high expectations for students in areas including their behaviour, morals, motivation, self-discipline, responsibility and personal integrity. Of particular importance is the place of parents who are encouraged to continue an active role in each child's learning. Mutual respect and co-operation between home and school are recognised as essential to school life and in enhancing the learning outcomes for the students.

I hope that you will find the following information helpful and informative. Any further enquiries can be made by contacting the school office. If I can be of any assistance to you during your child's time with us, please do not hesitate to contact me.
