In 1956 the parish of St John Vianney and St Thomas More, Greenacre was established. The Sisters of St Joseph started the parish school in 1961 in the church hall which had been converted into classroom. Then, in 1969, it was the parishioners who provided the finance and labour for building the school to accommodate the then 242 students.

Over the past 40 years, with the demographic changes in the area, St John Vianney has developed into a vibrant multicultural community. It is a place of welcome and acceptance.

Many opportunities exist for involvement in the life of the school, and contributions from parents, grandparents and other community members in a range of activities are always warmly welcomed.

The school is directly involved in supporting those in need in our local community, and our families are keen to 'give back' to the community and work in partnership with various charities.
