School Uniform

One of the ways to foster both self and school image is attention to dress. The uniform identifies the children as students of St

Joseph's and proclaims the school's values, standards and traditions. The children should wear the uniform with pride. Consequently, clothing should at all times be neat, clean, tidy and worn correctly.

A note from parents is required if a child is not in correct uniform. Generally, the Summer Uniform is worn in Terms 1 and 4 and the Winter Uniform is worn in Terms 2 and 3.

Parents should use their judgement in the changeover of seasons.

Marking of Property

All items, including clothing, school bag and school requisites must be clearly marked with each child's name.

Lost Property

Lost property is a major concern. Marked items are returned as soon as possible but a large quantity of good clothing goes unclaimed. This is kept at school and regularly placed where children can check for lost items until the end of each term when unclaimed articles will be passed onto the clothing pool. Frequent reminders will be placed in the School Newsletter and parents are welcome to inspect unclaimed clothing in order to recover lost items.

Sun Protection Policy

St Joseph's school has adopted a Sun Protection Policy to encourage the children to take precautionary measures against skin damage.

Hats are to be worn at all times when students are outside. School hats with the "legionnaire's flap" or "broad brim" are the approved type. Students without hats will not be permitted to play, but must sit in the designated area in the shade.

Children are encouraged to use sunscreen (stick or roll-on). This is an individual choice and must be supplied and applied by each student.
