A Message from the Principal

The time your child will spend in Primary School is a most significant period in your child’s life and in the life of your family.

St James Catholic Primary School was founded in 1880 by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan and is embedded in the Catholic Parish Community of Glebe-Forest Lodge under the spiritual leadership of Fr. Dominic Murphy. St James is proud to continue in the Good Samaritan Tradition inspired by our school motto: Fully Alive in Christ.

At St James we offer a holistic educational experience. For children, education primarily occurs in the home. This is particularly true of the spiritual growth of your child. The Catholic School, as part of the parish, supports the family in this development. Therefore, the full benefit of the Catholic School occurs when you empower the school, the family and the parish to work in harmony to create a true environment for faith development.

St James provides an exciting and contemporary curriculum. The school’s curriculum and planning provides a comprehensive array of educational activities that cater for the needs of individual students. The class programs, school celebrations and interactions between all members of the school community reflect the spiritual life of the school.

As a school we follow the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and integrate His message of love into our daily activities. We strive for excellence in all academic areas and we are very proud of our students’ successes. All students are encouraged to put forth their best efforts and are challenged each day by their teachers to reach their full potential.

The St James school staff greatly values relationships with parents and encourages them to be ‘part of the journey’. A commitment to be involved in the education of your child through participation in the life of the school brings untold benefits. Evidence suggests that when parents are actively involved in their child’s learning, educational outcomes are maximised.

At St James we strive for genuine partnership in the education and faith of the children. We will guide, support and assist your child in every possible way and take a genuine interest in your child’s wellbeing.

This will be the beginning of a fruitful, rewarding and enriching faith and learning journey!

May the Lord look upon you with kindness and give you peace,

Enrica Bova
